Mayor Barkat Launches Hi- Tech Blog with Virtual Greeting
Jerusalem, Israel, August 25th – Jerusalem's Mayor Nir Barkat launched a new hi-tech blog to increase transparency and dialogue with the residents of Jerusalem. The blog allows residents and visitors an informal glance inside the Mayor’s office and events that take place throughout the city. The new blog contains various topics related to the Mayor’s activities, municipal activities, programs promoting development and transparency throughout the city, and more. Visitors can respond by posting comments on the site, raise issues for discussion, and offer suggestions to improve municipal operations. The website opens with a virtual greeting from Mayor Barkat to each visitor.
The new blog includes exclusive videos from the Mayor’s many events and text of his speeches. The blog will also include meeting information and minutes from different City Council and municipal committee meetings. The site also permits residents to upload pictures of Jerusalem themselves to the site directly to share with other residents. The blog also contains links to the Mayor’s Facebook page and YouTube account.
The new blog follows Mayor Barkat’s commitment to complete transparency and engaging with the residents in new ways. Mayor Barkat was the first to launch live broadcasting of Jerusalem City Council meetings online.
