SUMMARY OF EDITORIALS FROM THE HEBREW PRESS

Makor Rishon-Hatzofeh laments that, at a time when the country is in need of respectable political debate from both Right and Left, the leaders of the Labor Party are engaged in internal squabbling.

Yediot Ahronot believes that Israeli society has lost its marbles.  The editors lament the extent and speed with which Security Cabinet deliberations are made public, insinuating that, had the
Entebbe operation been so handled, "We would have returned with 200-300 coffins."

Yediot Ahronot, in its second editorial, says that
Israel's arrogant dismissal of peace proposals by Egyptian President Anwar Sadat led to the deaths of 2,569 Israeli soldiers in the Yom Kippur War.  The editors suggest that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert would do well to thoroughly consider Syrian President Bashar Assad's intentions before dismissing them out of hand.

Yediot Ahronot, in its third editorial, believes that student union leader Itai Barda should improve his poor Hebrew if he is seriously considering entering national politics.

[Eitan Haber wrote today’s editorials in Yediot Ahronot.]
