SUMMARY OF EDITORIALS FROM THE HEBREW PRESS
Makor Rishon-Hatzofeh asserts that not every politician is fit to be the President of Israel and adds that in choosing a new President due consideration must be given to who can best return the Israeli presidency to its proper status.
Yediot Ahronot uses Tom Friedman's 9.5.07 New York Times article ("The Arab Commission") to suggest that Hezbollah was soundly defeated – tactically, strategically and diplomatically – during the Second Lebanon War. The editors claim that the Arabs' difficulty in admitting defeat is characteristic of societies that tend to ignore unpleasant realities and pass the blame on to others. The paper contends that, thanks to the pressure of the independent Arab press, things are beginning change.
