More Tourists from US, UK and Russia Between January and November
Nine Per Cent Rise in Number of US Tourists; Dramatic Increases from Poland and Czech Republic
1.7 million tourists arrived in Israel between January and November 2006, with more visitors arriving from the US, Britain, Poland, Czech Republic and CIS compared to the same period last year.
455,000 tourists arrived from the United States, an increase of nine per cent. 147,500 tourists arrived during this period from the United Kingdom, a four per cent rise. The number of visitors from Poland jumped 39 per cent, and from the Czech Republic 47 per cent. Increases in the number of tourists to Israel were also registered from Austria (+14 per cent), Russia (+8 per cent), the Ukraine (+8 per cent) and Korea (+7 per cent), amongst other countries.

Tourism to Israel Up 25 Per Cent in First Five Months of the Year
883,900 tourists entered Israel in the first five months of 2006, a 25 per cent increase over the same period last year.
According to Isaac Herzog, Israel's Minister of Tourism, increased marketing efforts will see 2.6 million tourists arriving by the end of the year. The minister referred to the latest forecast and plans to relaunch English and Russian-language tourism websites.
The majority of tourists, 739,400, arrived by air in the first five months of the year, up 20 per cent. 187,800 foreign tourists arrived in Israel in the month of May alone, nine per cent more than in May 2005.

Tourism to Israel Jumps 30 Per Cent in January-April 2006
695,000 Visitors Enter the Country in First Four Months of the Year
695,000 tourists entered Israel in the period January-April 2006, a 30 per cent rise over the same period last year. Tourist traffic from North America surged 34 per cent compared to the first four months of 2005. 174,000 visitors arrived from the United States (up 42 per cent) making that country the largest source of tourism to Israel.
"30 per cent growth in tourism is encouraging, and only emphasizes the need for further investment in the industry to realize our goal of bringing three million visitors to the country this year," says Israeli Minister of Tourism Isaac Herzog.
Significant increases in tourism were recorded from the following countries: Russia (+48 per cent), Ukraine (+41 per cent), Italy (+30 per cent), Austria (+70 per cent) and the United Kingdom (+26 per cent).

145,200 Tourists Enter Israel in February, Up 31 Per Cent Over

Figures released today by Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics and Ministry of Tourism show 145,200 tourists entered the country in February 2006, a 31 per cent rise over the same period in 2005.
Tourism Minister Avraham Hirchson says the goal of bringing three million tourists to the country this year is in reach. Continued efforts to open Israel's skies and ongoing marketing abroad will contribute to the positive tourism trend and provide employment to Israelis.
In the first two months of 2006, 280,600 tourists entered the country, a rise of 24 per cent over the same period a year earlier. Increases were registered in the number of visitors arriving by air, land and sea.
