SUMMARY OF EDITORIALS FROM THE HEBREW PRESS
Yediot Ahronot suggests that the State is currently bereft of genuine leadership that could steer the country through its current crises.
Yediot Ahronot, in its second editorial, is amazed that there is no technological response to Kassam rockets. The editors assert that, "The more primitive the means of terrorism, the harder it is to strike at them," and reflect that, "Terrorism is the successful weapon of the weak."
Yediot Ahronot, in its third editorial, says that many of the failures of the recent fighting in Lebanon stemmed from the fact that the IDF had trained for different types of operations in recent years. The editors urge the IDF to train intensively for future wars similar to this summer's fighting in southern Lebanon.
Hatzofeh declares: "The Kassam rockets can be stopped. Everyone knows how: Retake control of every centimeter of the Gaza Strip. When the IDF is in Beit Hanoun, Sajaiya and Jebalya, not temporarily but permanently, Sderot will sleep quietly. 'Occupation' now."
[Eitan Haber and Haggai Hoberman wrote today’s editorial in Yediot Ahronot and Hatzofeh, respectively.]
