Du-Et will appear in the following newspapers 11th-14th October:

Hebrew: Haaretz (National), Maariv (Tel Aviv/Center)

Arabic: Kul-al-Arab, As'sennara, Panorama (National)

With a readership reaching 1 million, Du-Et is Israel's only newspaper written and produced jointly by both Jewish and Arab journalists. Printed in both Hebrew and Arabic, Du-Et is distributed on a quarterly basis through the national Hebrew and Arabic language press.

Established by the Jewish-Arab Press Club, Du-Et tackles the complex challenges facing Israel today in its dual role as a Jewish state and a democratic, multi-cultural society. Du-Et attempts to combat negative stereotypes of the "other," to promote Jewish-Arab cooperation and dialogue, and to provide a forum for Arab journalists in the Hebrew press.

Du-Et and the Jewish-Arab Press Club are initiatives of the Citizens' Accord Forum between Jews & Arabs in Israel.

Over One Million Support Israel in Philippines

Christian leaders promote prayer for the peace of Jerusalem

September 29, 2005, Manila, Philippines- One million Christians will assemble on October 2 at the open air Luneta Grandstand to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and to declare and sign the five-point resolution of Jerusalem Summit Asia I and II.

The event marking the 27th anniversary of the Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide (JILCW) will be led by Rev. Eddie Villanueva, the spiritual head of the JILCW, and other Filipino Christian leaders.  The JILCW is the second largest independent church in the world with a membership of seven million.  It has chapters in 38 countries.

The Israel segment of the event will also feature the symbolic presentation of a golden key to Guy Feldman, First Secretary of the Israeli Embassy in Manila. The gesture signifies that Asian prayer and praise watch over the Golden Gate or East Gate in Jerusalem. The five point resolution to be backed by the Christian leaders and the over one million attendees include: the petition to move Asian embassies to Jerusalem, the petition for Asian governments to oppose anti-Israel resolutions in the United Nations, the petition for Asian governments to ensure funding measures not be diverted to terrorist activities against Israel, the petition for the media to provide balanced coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the encouragement of Asian governments to respect Judeo-Christian values.  The resolutions are motivated by the biblical mandates for Christians to support Israel.

Jerusalem Summit Asia I was held in Manila last year and a second summit was held in Seoul, Korea this August. Five hundred top Asian Christian and government leaders, together with an Israeli delegation of academics and members of the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus, attended the event. The Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide, together with Kol Adonai Foundation, Jerusalem East Gate Foundation, Jerusalem Summit Asia and the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus are promoting the October 2 pro-Israel initiative.

The Israeli and Pakistani foreign ministers held the first acknowledged high-level talks between the two countries.

Following is a statement by Silvan Shalom, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, following his meeting with Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri in Istanbul, September 1,  2005

I have just completed an historic first meeting with the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, my colleague Khurshid Kasuri.

Israel welcomes this meeting, and we hope that it will herald the beginning of an open and mutually beneficial relationship between our two countries. Meetings such as this are a source of great encouragement and hope to the Israeli people - that through our efforts we are able to open new channels of dialogue, and build understanding between us and all the peoples of the world, including the Muslim nations.

Such contacts also help strengthen the moderates on the Palestinian side - those who recognize that dialogue and acceptance must always be preferred to hatred, terror and extremism.

It is no coincidence that this meeting took place here in Turkey, this great Muslim democracy, and Israel's long-standing friend. Israel's relations with Turkey are proof that Israel can enjoy good and mutually beneficial relations with our Muslim neighbours. I wish to take this opportunity to thank Prime Minister Erdogan and his government, for their friendship and commitment to promoting regional understanding, and for their generous hospitality here today.

This meeting comes at a time of great significance. New opportunities for progress towards dialogue and peace have been opened up. It is our hope that through our efforts - including this historic meeting here in Istanbul today with Foreign Minister Kasuri - we will pave the way forward towards a future of peace, security and regional cooperation to the benefit of all peoples.
