EDITORIALS FROM THE HEBREW PRESS

Hatzofeh comments on the opinion polls in last Friday's newspapers and believes that, "The public is going after a false Messiah named Ariel Sharon."

Yediot Ahronot analyzes the Palestinian Authority political situation ahead of the upcoming elections and says that, "Against background of Fatah's bankruptcy, Hamas's strength is prominent."  The editors suggest that, "From the point-of-view of the average Palestinian, voting for Hamas is the answer to the rotten, failure-ridden Fatah regime," and warn that postponing the elections will guarantee an explosion.
